Eb ALTO SACKBUTT
by the English maker Frank Tomes - £1250
The instrument has traditional flat (or clasp) stays and a garland
on the bell inscribed "FRANCIS TOMES FECIT LONDINI MCMXCIII"
(Frank Tomes made me in London 1993). The sackbutt is in raw brass
and in excellent condition with no dents or dings. The slide is drawn,
chromed and runs smoothly. The bell is 106mm diameter and is hand
made by the traditional methods (not spun). Tuning adjustment is between
the bell section and the slide. Internal bore of the slide is 11mm.
An Amado waterkey is fitted. Supplied with a Kingham MTM case and
alto sackbut mouthpiece. The same specification instrument is currently
listed on the Early Music Shop website at £2100
